Born and raised in Washington State, Megan Runkel is a somewhat recent transplant to the Mississippi Gulf Coast From Bellingham, WA. She is fascinated by the human body and feels very fortunate to be able to work with people to create healing and ease in their lives.

Megan started her bodywork journey in 2007 at Heartwood Institute, a unique 1,035 hour program set in the remote hills of Northern California, learning the basics and so much more; depth and presence was paired with anatomy and technique. In 2010 Megan completed the 250 hour Advanced Certification in Orthopedic Massage where she learned more about how to work with fascia (connective tissue) in full body patterns and how that relates to injuries. In 2012 she started to dive deeper into study of Cranial Sacral Therapy with the Upledger Institute and Visceral Manipulation with the Barral Insitute. Specialized classes in the brain, the immune system, the internal organs, the cranial nerves, concussions and somato-emotional release have deepened her presence and anatomical knowledge to be able to work with more complicated conditions by knowing detailed anatomy and structural connections.

Megan became a Certified Cranial Sacral Therapist in 2019 through the Upledger Institute after exams in essay, multiple choice and lengthy hands-on form. The in depth requirements for this certification set her apart as outstanding in this field.

Megan regularly attends continuing education trainings, at least twice a year, and is currently a Certified Teaching Assistant for the Upledger Institute with past a teaching assistant position for Deep Tissue Massage at Heartwood Institute. Helping others learn has greatly deepened her knowledge and ability to be more succinct in explaining how this type of healing works. The more she learns the better she is able to help her clients and meet them where they are at.

After 2 major surgeries in the last half of 2022, Megan is no longer doing any deep tissue or “regular” massage and focusing on her true passion, CranioSacral Therapy. This change will allow her to continue her career in bodywork.

When she is not working, Megan can be found at the beach or outside enjoying nature, hiking, biking, practicing yoga, traveling the world, and exploring with her trusty sidekick, Mila.

The primary focus of my practice is working intensely with clients who wish to discover and explore the patterns that underlie their symptoms, rather than simply trying to make those symptoms go away.
